ABOUT
Terramade is rooted in a desire to revitalize old things. We seek to update for modern living while thoughtfully maintaining the soul of a place.
With formal training in engineering and design, our collective skillset translates well to transforming spaces, especially quirky old ones. We strive to create spaces that are both functional and beautiful. We approach each project intuitively and practically, making for an honest and intentional end result.

Our process and services
Being a team of 2, we pride ourselves on working nimbly to meet the varying needs of our clients. Each project is unique, and so is our approach. Creative problem solving is our greatest strength, especially in the form of old house renovating to make the old meld with the new. We’re also attuned to small space design and the many specific challenges that come along with it, such as in ADUs (accessory dwelling units aka granny flats) or old house kitchens and bathrooms.
In broad strokes, once you’ve reached out and we’ve decided that the project is a good fit, we learn about the space. What problems is this space creating? What is most important to our client’s daily life and what features must we include in the design? What inspires the people who will inhabit this space? Our client intake process helps us discern small and large details that help inform the design.
We equip our clients with a plan so they can execute their renovation project confidently, with the details all concisely laid out for them. Having a plan keeps communication clearer, budgets tighter, and the end result all the more satisfying.

If you already have a floor plan sketch in hand, cabinet style and color chosen, faucets picked out, etc. but need help with drawings for permitting, this option is for you. We will help you formalize your plans so you are equipped to gather bids from contractors and subs.

If you have an idea of what you want, but lack the specifics of a floor plan sketch or any choices in finishes made yet, this option is a more involved design process with us. We’ll help hone the floor plan and features that best fit your day-to-day life, use mood boards to envision the space and select finishes, and finally, finalize all construction and permit drawings.

A space is only as beautiful as it is functional — both of these things are very important and must be balanced. We’re here to solve problems, but do so in a thoughtful and visually appealing way. Great design requires both form and function.

We choose timelessness over trends. We seek to design spaces that feel at home in their structures and are made to be lived in, for the long haul. Longevity informs our material choices, millwork details, paint colors, and everything in between. Great design stands the test of time.

For us, the magic of a space is in the little moments—how the light hits a vintage fixture, hardware that feels satisfying in the hand, tile details that are both thoughtful and artful.
